Navarro ISD Celebrates Coach Harborth's Legendary Career at Senior Night

GERONIMO, TX – February 5, 2025 – Navarro ISD hosted a special evening on February 4, 2025, to celebrate parents and Senior Night for the Navarro Panther girls basketball team and to honor Coach Darrell Harborth for his 30 years of dedicated service, including 27 years at Navarro ISD, as he coached his final home game before retirement.
The evening served as a tribute to seven graduating players keeping our heartfelt tradition of presenting parents with a purple carnation recognizing the support and dedication of the families. Following the ceremony, the focus turned to Coach Harborth's remarkable contributions to the sport and the countless lives he has impacted. For three decades, Coach Harborth has been a pillar of Navarro ISD, instilling values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance in his players and students.
His impressive record speaks volumes of his dedication and expertise: 634 wins, twenty-five playoff appearances in 27 years, a state appearance in 2014, two Regional Finals appearances, and an astounding 12 appearances in the 3rd round of the playoffs. These accomplishments underscore his unwavering commitment to his players and the sport.
"Like, John Wooden said, “A good coach can change a game. A great coach can change a life.”, said Superintendent Mandy Epley as she addressed the packed event center. "Tonight, as Coach Harborth coaches his final home game before retirement, we say thank you, coach, for your dedication, your passion, and your unwavering commitment to Navarro ISD.”
As Coach Harborth coached his final home game, the Navarro ISD community joined together in a reception following the game to celebrate many seasons of success and express their gratitude for his years of service.
Upon his retirement, Coach Harborth will pursue his passion for farming full-time. Navarro ISD invites the community to join them in wishing Coach Harborth well in his future endeavors.
