Very Important Panther Substitutes
Substitute teachers are a very important part of the Navarro ISD team. They provide safety and continuity of learning for students, while affording teachers peace of mind knowing that their classes are in good hands.
Substitute rate of pay for 2026-2027 School Year:
- Teachers - $105 daily
- Aides - $105 daily
- Substitute Nurses – $105 daily
Minimum requirements for substitute teachers is a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
NISD accepts substitute teacher and substitute teacher aide applications year-round. NISD uses Red Rover to manage finding and filling substitute positions.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Complete two-hour in-person Orientation Session
- Successfully complete a 6-8 hour online training session, SubSkills Training Course (requires $49.95 fee)
- Complete fingerprinting process (requires $47.99 fee)
On-going Panther Substitutes Support:
- Meetings held three times a year
- Monthly “Most Valuable Panther Substitute” campus recognition
