Navarro ISD CTE Students Explore Local Manufacturing Careers

Navarro ISD’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Ag Mechanics and Engineering Robotics & Automation students recently participated in the annual Made in Seguin Manufacturing Tour. This event, held in celebration of National Manufacturing Day, provided students with a firsthand look at the diverse career opportunities available within the local manufacturing industry.
On October 16, sixty students in grades 10-12 had the chance to tour various local manufacturing facilities in Seguin. They gained insights into a wide range of positions, including Logistics, Engineering, Programming, Automation, Robotics, CNC Operation, Machine Operation, CAD Draftsman, Fabrication, Industrial Painting, Contracting/Construction, and more.
Navarro ISD’s CTE Director, Vanessa Ritenour said, “This tour showcases the modern reality of manufacturing careers and emphasizes the high demand and competitive wages associated with this field.” Ritenour expressed her gratitude for the support and involvement of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation, represented by Jessica Dersen and Brittany Brittney Watson. “Their efforts in organizing the tour and securing the participation of local manufacturing companies were instrumental in providing students with this valuable educational experience.”
Each participating company provided a brief presentation and conducted a guided behind the scenes tour for the students. Additionally, companies generously offered lunch to the students during the second tour of the day.
Participating Companies: Alamo Industrial, Texas State Technical College, Ameritex Concrete Pipe, Vitesco, CMC Steel, Hexcel, Niagara Bottling, Rave Gears, Central State MFG.
By participating in the Made in Seguin Manufacturing Tour, Navarro ISD students were able to explore potential career paths, develop a better understanding and stronger community connection within the local manufacturing industry, and make informed decisions about their future educational and professional goals.
