Engagement Opportunities

Navarro ISD's strength and success is intrinsically linked to the active participation and diverse voices of our stakeholders. The district's Collaborative Vision is driven by parent, staff and community engagement - a cornerstone for achieving our board priorities and goals.

As our district continues to experience high growth, increasing community participation becomes even more critical, allowing us to be proactive in our approach to meet evolving needs.

Numerous avenues exist for parents, staff, district leaders, and all community members to directly impact the district's progress and contribute to a thriving educational environment. We invite you to take a look and consider joining a committee or organization's purpose that connects your passion. Volunteers hold a big piece of the heart of Geronimo!

  • This committee plays a vital role in shaping the future of Navarro ISD's infrastructure. Comprised of community members, parents, staff, students, and district leadership, the committee provides vision and recommendations to the Board of Trustees for the development of facilities, priority projects outlined within the Navarro ISD Long Range Facilities Master Plan, and future Bond outlook in alignment with the plan. This collaborative effort ensures that future facility decisions reflect the needs and aspirations of our district. Click the link below to sign up and see meeting information.

  • SHAC is an essential platform for engagement in our district. The mission of the Navarro ISD SHAC is to encourage and promote fitness and healthy lifestyle choices for students, staff, and the community. As an advisory group representing both the community and the school district, the SHAC provides crucial input on coordinated school health programming and its impact on student well-being and learning. SHACs facilitate input into health education programs and support early intervention and prevention strategies through the collaborative efforts of local families, educators, administrators, and the community. By law, every independent school system in Texas is required to have a SHAC, with the majority of its members being parents not employed by the school district, as detailed in Title 2, Chapter 28, Section 28.004 of the Texas Education Code. The Navarro Student Health Advisory Council aims to review and recommend programs that provide current information on health, physical, and social education issues vital to students and the community, subsequently advising the NISD School Board for approval and implementation.

  • The Safety and Security Committee offers another vital opportunity for stakeholders to contribute to the well-being of the school community. This committee is instrumental in developing and reviewing safety protocols and initiatives, legislative mandates, and partner directly with local law enforcement to ensure a secure environment for all students and staff.

This committee is open to parents, district employees, students, law enforcement officers (active and retired), and community members.

If you are interested in serving, contact Robby Castillo, Director of Safety & Operations, at robby.castillo@nisd.us or click here for more information and to apply.

  • The DEIC also serves as a critical advisory body for academic programs, school calendar. Composed of parents, teachers, administrators, and community members, the DEIC is dedicated to enhancing educational programs and ensuring that school goals align with community needs. This collaborative approach yields significant benefits: for students, it leads to enhanced educational programs and improved learning outcomes; for teachers, it provides a direct channel for input on policies and professional development; and for the community, it fosters strong school-community partnerships, encouraging vital local support for schools.

  • Navarro ISD’s Historical Committee is an initiative dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history and traditions of the Panther community.

This new committee seeks the help of dedicated community members to gather, organize, and showcase the district's extensive history, with a major focus on curating display cases in our schools, especially in anticipation of the opening of our new high school facility this January.

The primary mission of the Historical Committee is two-fold:

    1. Gather and Preserve: Committee members will assist the district in the crucial task of assessing the district’s stored collection, and seek acquisition of historical information if needed such as artifacts, photographs, and school memorabilia from Navarro ISD’s past. These items could range from vintage yearbooks and athletic gear to old classroom records and newspaper clippings.
    2. Curate and Display: Once collections are organized, the committee will play a vital role in sorting and selecting items to be featured in curated display cases across our campuses. This effort will ensure the legacy of Navarro ISD is visible and accessible to current and future generations of students, staff, and visitors.

In addition to artifact preservation, committee members will be invited to share their personal stories and memories as part of an exciting video documentary. This video will capture the history and heart of Geronimo through the voices of the people who lived it, offering a compelling visual history for the community.

Navarro ISD is looking for an enthusiastic group of volunteers to serve on this committee. We strongly encourage applications from:

    • Navarro ISD Alumni (from all graduating classes)
    • Current Navarro ISD Families and Staff
    • Local Historians and Community Members

This is a unique opportunity to leave a lasting mark on the district by ensuring that the stories, achievements, and artifacts that define the Navarro Panther spirit are permanently honored.

If you have a passion for history, a personal connection to Navarro ISD, and are interested in volunteering your time and expertise, we want to hear from you! Join us in building a bridge from our proud past to our exciting future!

Parent Organizations

We are blessed in this community to be supported by a variety of organizations, clubs, and foundations.  Their generous fundraising and volunteer efforts to support expanded experiences, learning opportunities, celebrations, and scholarships are significant for our students' growth. While we value their contributions, it is important to note that the district does not have authority over these independent groups including their events, activities, and processes. Therefore, any concerns regarding their events, fundraising, or questions about their organization’s operations should be addressed directly with the respective organization's president.
